Association for Industrial Design - XXIV “Compasso d’Oro” international award: hounorable mention for Vespa 946

The international jury of the XXIV “Premio Compasso d'Oro ADI” (Industrial Design Association/Compasso d’Oro International Award) has assigned an Honourable Mention – in the category DESIGN FOR MOBILITY – to the Vespa 946 with the following motivation: "The Vespa offers discounting of lines that made her famous and beloved without neglecting the needs of sustainability and low environmental impact."

Established in 1954, the Compasso d'Oro (Gold Compass) ADI Award is the oldest and most influential international design award; it arisen from an idea by Gio Ponti to highlight the value and quality of the Italian design products then its dawn. The ADI (Association for Industrial Design) since 1964 has managed the organization of the Prize, ensuring its impartiality and his integrity. The nearly three hundred winning projects in over fifty years of life of the award, along with the almost two thousand product selected with the Honourable Mention, are collected and kept in the Historical Collection of the Compasso d'Oro Award (of exceptional artistic and historical interest, it is included in Italy’s national heritage), whose management has been entrusted to the ADI Foundation.

The Golden Compass is awarded on the basis of a pre-selection made by the ADI Permanent Observatory of Design, consisting of a commission of experts, designers, critics, historians, specialized journalists, ADI members or external to it, all continuously engaged in collecting information, year after year, and in valuing and selecting the best products which are then published in the ADI Design Index yearbooks.
