Milan, 9 November 2018 – The Piaggio Group said that on Tuesday, with the opening of the EICMA 2018 tradeshow, it had filed a complaint informing the authorities of the presence on a competitor’s stand of a number of scooters whose designs constitute an imitation of the Vespa, infringing Piaggio's exclusivity right (three-dimensional trademark and ornamental model of the “Vespa” scooter).
In response to Piaggio’s complaint, the Mobile Unit of the Rho division of the Guardia di Finanza, the Italian military police corps, seized the scooters in question.
The initiative is part of the action Piaggio takes to safeguard its intellectual property rights and guarantee the protection of the forms and designs that have characterised the Vespa since it was originally introduced.
