The Historical Archives are the starting point of the Foundation’s cultural project. In 1992 Piaggio signed an agreement with the University of Pisa to begin historical research into the Company’s origins.
The result is an extensive and detailed collection of documents on the history of Piaggio, not only at Pontedera but also at Genoa, and at all other Italian and foreign sites where Piaggio established its plants. Today, the Historical Archives have thousands of documents. Some time ago the Company gave the Archives documents on employees (blue and white collar workers, managers) who had been working for Piaggio from 1917 to the 1970s. This section of the archives is of remarkable importance for a greater understanding of industrial relations, as well as for the reconstruction of society and economy in the area around Pontedera. This acquisition, in addition to the previous collection and the fund of sketches, places the Piaggio Historical Archives among the most extensive company archives in the world.
